Competitor Analysis:
McDonalds has been doing business in India from last 14 years. In these 14 years new competitors have entered, out of which some has become successful brand of India. Its traditional rivals are KFC, Dominos and Pizza Hut. Each of them has its own competitive advantage.
Two dimensional Perpectual Mapping:
A) Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC)
KFC is one of the biggest competitors of McDonalds as it also deals with similar products as McDonalds offers. KFC has a restaurant chain of almost 11,000 outlets in over 80 countries. KFC first entered India in 1995 but die to not adhering with the prevention of food Adulteration Act, 1954 it has to leave India. It again launched itself in 2003 with revised strategies and with understanding India Market much better.
B) Dominos:
Opened in 1996 dominos have captured most of the big as well as small cities of India and had opened more than 300 outlets and they will be going to reach to 500 outlets covering almost 50 cites in year 2010-11. They follow Premium pricing strategy with certain Promotional campaigns with 30 Minutes delivery concept which act as a Sustainable competitive advantage for them.
Other competitors are: Pizza Hut, Jumbo King, small outlets of Vada Pao.
